Hey! What oem gearboxes are strongest? BMW is well known for strong manual transmissions. Supra have R154, V160 / 161 Nissan 350z, not from 2003 Mazda rx8 What other powerful and affordable oem gearboxes are there on the market? Advantages and disadvantages?
I think he means the 5 speed box not the 6 speed bud. i think the z33 gets my vote. R154 didn't last 5 mins.
300ZX turbo boxes are quite beefy. I could comfortably lift an SR20 transmission by myself but a Z32 weighs a fucking ton. The gearset is enormous compared to an SR box as well. It's hard to beat a Magnum box for ultimate strength though. They are rated by Tremec to 700lbft from the factory which probably has a safety factor of 20% in there on top. Came in the Mustang and a number other 'murican cars. They cost a fortune though and generally need to be imported.
On what car can i find the Z33 gearbox? Torque Capacity? Cheap or expensive? Any more gearboxes that is strong? People seem to have very different perceptions of R154 is strong or not.
I understand that T56 super magnum is strong. But if you dont have $ 4,516 to spend. What other options are there? Is z32 and z33 same kind of gearboxes? From what cars can i find them?
thanks for the information Someone more that could recommend strong gearboxes? I like myself BMW Gearboxes. Becauce they are cheap and very strong. For example manual gearbox from 530d e60 6 speed. Handels up to 600nm.
GTR gearbox converted to RWD work well. Need to be strong enough to handle a 26 going through 4 wheels. Depends where in the world you are as to whether they are cheap or not. And need the prop flange too.
