A few more updates... Most of the interior and the cage is in - Got the battery in and wired up - Megafuse! Junction box waiting for the engine to be connected And ran the fuel and brake lines -
Old stuff removed... and built up with a nice clean subframe and the geomasters I've had lying around for years. Fitted to the Silvia with the standard shocks for now Engine out! It's been leaking stuff from everywhere forever so it'll take me a while to clean that up And I've got an OS Giken Super Single to fit Which is good because this is what came off the engine And thanks to Cam for helping me with all the heavy stuff!
Since last time I've swapped over the steering rack, remainder of the suspension and brakes and connected everything up. Then started cleaning some of the gunk off the engine Much better, I'll be able to track down that little leak now Next I attached the OS Giken clutch/flywheel with some ARP flywheel bolts. So when we took the engine out it was a bit of a challenge moving the engine crane around on wooden boards. So I decided to move everything to somewhere with a hard surface, on my own, using ratchet straps and a quad bike to help me Then another Stu dropped by and we got the engine dropped into the Silvia It's getting a bit heavy to move around now, so I'd better get it moving under its own power next
really enjoying the read on this mate, just out of interest where is the roll cage from and did you get it recently, i'm struggling to find one that won't cost me an arm and a leg
Well I plugged everything back into the engine it seemed to look good... And to my relief it started up Also happy that everything fits in the engine bay with the front arch tubs. So I swapped the coilovers, prop, exhaust etc on to the Silvia And took it for a drive round the front of the house. It's almost a car again
Cheers guys Plan is to use the R33s for the track, since the sizes are good for clearance on everything, and I'd put some Federal RSRs on on the front pair since I've never had decent tyres before But I'm going to make these fit the Silvia again for road wheels
It's getting wider now... I need to flare the arches a bit so I can steer, but it looks like the mini-tubs give enough clearance inside It turns out there isn't enough toe adjustment with the Geomasters and eccentric lockout kit on the subframe, so I'll need to put the stock adjusters back on before I can sort out the rear alignment... but it looks like everything just about fits
Looks awesome ! Looking forward to seeing it done. Sorry I may have missed it earlier what rear bumper are you using looks sweet ! Thanks
Pretty much sorted out everything in the engine bay, new intercooler and a few other things Then I got a bit distracted... and managed get a new home for the Silvia sorted out with a couple of mates This is much better than a gazebo
