this is Maarten's feedback from session 3 in Holland: Right after the mapping i was able to do a lot of miles so it was fun testing it, and what a difference! At 2800 rpm i’ve got 280 Nm of torque en goes like a train until the red zone. Also very good is the fast spool up to 3000rpm, especially for a stock T28. The throttle response is a lot better en all together it runs a lot smoother. And the fuelconsumption has also improved. Eventually I got 287.1 hp and 377.2 Nm at the flywheel. With the injectors at their max it turned out 305.7. It’s running at .9bar boost so still room for improvement. According to Steve I’ve got a healthy sr, with very good compression. The actuator did very well en easily coped with the .7 bar of the standard map. These numbers were reached with conservative settings and euro95 fuel. I’ve talked things over with Steve before the mapping how I wanted it and Steve made a map accordingly. Very relaxed man, who really takes his time to explain everything you want to know. Definitly knows what he’s talking about. All in all a very happy camper, considering I installed the intercooler the day before and on the day the catreplacement.
first of all i would like to say a big thanks to steve for coming over and mapping a few of the irish cars, it was a long day on saturday and with the cars before me all having slight engine issue's which steve sorted meant i got on the dyno at around 7 and unfortently steve had to finish my session early as complains for neighbours about the noise at about half8, steve tweeked the map on my car and then ran it without the boost controller on and it made 325bhp and about 270ish whp at under 1bar of boost, when the boost controller was turned on and set to just above a bar my car suffered from grip issue's on the dyno as the boost was coming on hard the car was just wheel spinning, at one stage with had 3 people in the back of it to try and get abit more traction, but as we were sorting the problem the neighbours came to call a halt to the day, steve then said he be back in a few weeks and will finish my mapping free of charge, even running .9 to a bar now the car pulls great and is so smooth, he explained everything as he went along and showed us everything he was doing on the laptop, would i liked was is no bullshit approach and was explaining everything as he went along as in this way u know what your paying for and whats going on step by step. looking forward to your return steve and looking forward to 1.5bar
ok, first of all saturday was a great day and i think it was a great insight into tuning, first hand. Steve was very eager to show us all what we spent our cash on. he finally showed us some of the things tuners over here have been hiding, very relaxed attitude during the day and some serious tuning, second of all sorry my car was a challenge wit a didgy starter and cracked manifold and wet plugs from a winter outdoors. but thanks to steve for putting in the effort. my car reached 321bhp @ the flywheel(350ft/lb) and with a weak actuator and really bad manifold. cant wait to get my actuator on and hopefully get some more horses. thanks again. great day (especially trying to get grip flat out in forth sitting in gearys boot in the s14.

Big thanks to Steve for mapping my JZX90 again on the new turbo this last Monday. Steve provisionally mapped the car on my old GT3082 turbo last year but due to time constraints it was a limiting map. There were a few gremlins but this has been well and truely sorted on the new GT3037. Power delivery is ridiculously smooth and strong all the way to the red line. Such a pleasant car to drive...no stress involved at all. Fuelling limitations meant Steve couldnt take the car past 362bhp so with a few more alterationis itll be back to London for another map busting through 500bhp and to map up my AE86 when that arrives from Japan. THanks again Steve...you are a top bloke.
Well like so many of you guys, I've heard a lot of good things about this Steve fella @ FC Tuning So jumped on the chance to head down to Dartmouth with a mate who was taking his S15 to Hayes Engineering to get Steve to map his car and get mine sorted at the same time... It was awesome to see Steve remap my Apexi PFC with such skill and he was always pleased to explain and answer questions along the way. She now has 292 bhp but more importantly 325 ft lb of torque woohoo!!!! Many, many thanks Steve as well as Bob/Ray from Hayes Engineering - great bunch of guys and recommend FC Tuning everytime!! my car got mapped by steve on the 17th April @dp-engineering in Holland. you can search the whole web and you won't find anybody, who was not satisfied with steve's work. and there is a reason for this: he really is one of the best. it's really funny to see all the car-crazy people spending huge amounts of money for tuning parts, but just a really tiny part of them invests some bucks in a proper mapping (this you can observe in the german S13/S14 scene for sure). just few people seem to realize, that just fitting lots of tuning-parts and cranking up the boost is for sure funny, but it's nothing compared to a properly mapped car. I really don't want to bore you with numbers, because, believe me: they actually don't matter! but to just get an idea: I bought my S14a with 'basic' mods. it came with a dyno-printout stating 265PS @0,85bar. after this I was pumping lots of money in the car. after a year I was drifting it @1bar, which should make theoretically ~290 PS. to be honest: I wasn't really happy with the car. nearly 300PS, but it drifted like shit on dry tarmac. I even started looking for a skyline and wanted to sell my S14. but then, I gave it a 'last chance'. it got mapped by Steve. @1.1 bar it now has 'only' 309PS. the funny thing is: it's a complete new car. it feels at least 50PS stronger than before @1bar. even @ 0,8 it still feels stronger than before. and the best thing: now it's finally a nice smoke-generator . here you can see me drifting in Weeze (which actually is a WET-drifting event... but 'unfortunately' I missed the wet line on the track a little bit ):
Finally, after the car throwing any problem it could at me. I managed to get my S13 on the dyno for a full session. Massive thanks to Steve and Ali from Unit18 for helping getting the car in shape and of course mapping it! I did have a mapping session with Steve a couple weeks ago, but during the run my wastegate got stuck open and had a pretty weak spring in it (around 6 psi) so that was the end of the night for me. It was a bit hit and miss for yesterday as well, due to a manifold stud threading and being unable to tighten, so that had to come out and get sorted. I managed to get it back in with plenty of time thanks to Ali sorting the thread on short notice. Met Steve at Motorworx's in Marlow around six, got the car on the dyno and off we went! The first run produced a somewhat high 2 bar boost due to the boost controller pipes not in the right order, oops! At one point we thought the car had done in a plug , but luckly it only had blown one of the intercooler pipes off (time to upgarde the clips!). With that fixed and new plugs in Steve got down to fine tuning the car. Coming into the night I was anxious it wouldn't make the power I was looking for, but the car surprised everyone! The peak power of the night it made was 418bhp dead (356 @ wheels) however I'm not running forged rods, only pistons. Because of this we decided it would be safer to tune it down slightly. It made several consitent 400+ runs so is very much capable of doing so. My final figure for the night was a very satisfatory 388bhp at the fly (~330 at the wheels). Can highly recommened Steve, as always he was very helpful and took care of my car throughout the whole tune. Less text, more graph Peak power: Final setting: 200SX S13 running CA18 DET Big thanks to Steve
A mate and I tog the long way from denmark to DP engineering Holland on the 21st may for the Dr. Steve session bringing both our PS13 SR20DETs We arrived late at night and made camp in front of the workshop for a few hours before Dave and Peter arrived. Steve had brought Ray along for the weekend and they are a couple of party people Due to the perfect summerish weather it was decided to have an double BBQ session. One at noon and one in the evening. Best idea ever. Ray from Hayes who turn out the be the true BBQ master of the universe. F**k Heman - Ray - YOU have the power! As Mclarenboys pictures show we had a goooood day with mapping, BBQ and polish vodka. Since there only were three cars for the dyno session and a single roadtuning the session ended by 8 o'clock and we all decided to take the party downtown. A lot of beers and shots later the night ended around 4-5am with us taking a taxi home to the workshop for sleeping and Steve & Ray missing in action It was a absolute pleasure finally meeting Steve + Dave and Peter and seeing their insane homemade cooling equipment. They are very helpfull and due to their equipment we were able to fix issues like the fact that Sard topfeed injectors in a sard fuelrail gets pushed out when going above 1.5Bar. Recently had my car mapped by steve and am very pleased with the car and the way it drives, even with a weak actuator he still managed to run some serious power thru the old girl cheers steve will see you soon for stage 2 specs homemade forged sr20 c/r 7.9:1 264 cams td05 18g and the result
Had Steve remap my car at the weekend with a NIStune ECU. Car was already mapped @ 1.2 Bar but decided on chucking in some Nismo 740's and a new SS mani as well before getting it re-done. Got great results considering im still on stock turbo. The guy truly is a grand master wizard when it comes to tuning, far happier with the car now with bags of torque!! Hi, I had my car mapped about 2 months ago by Steve from FC Tuning. But at the time i had a Greddy system on the car that was designed for a spec-S im leading to believe becaust the exhaust was only 2.5" but after further investigation it would restrict to like an inch in the backbox, the result sounded cool like a Jet but wasnt helping performance atall- it was suffacting it basically. Steve laid 286 fly power before from this @ 1.2bar dropping to 1.1Bar and the power would abruptly drop at 5750 which didnt make it much good for holding power. Since then i have acquired a 5zigen system thanks to Nemesisguy.. then back off to the rolling road and another bit of tuning by Steve. The result was very suprising for my friend i had with me who thought i would see a slight increase from just an exhaust but i was quietly hoping and expecting the result, this is why i would like to share it will you guys. it made 306fly power @ 1.2BAR but injectors were being worked to hard so Steve lowered the boost a little and it pulled 303HP @ around 1.1 BAR dropping to 1.0BAR, some more power on less boost 258WHP from 240 and its a nice 330ish torque- there is not just an increase in peak power but more power and torque across the spectrum. The two tune graph have been dropped ontop of each other so you see.... if anyone is thinking of getting mapped then Steve is you man he is a wizard with fuel computers and does all car manufacturers but specialises in his nissans, very decent human being aswell!
Mapped Hey peeps, Just a heads up and a recommendation for Steve from FC Tuning.. I've had the car for a good few years and avoided a proper mapping session because of cost for a long time but I finally bowed down to some lean running issues and Steve hooked me up with a Nistune. The car's now running an easy 287hp on a fricken hot day and the drivability is superb, totally flat power curve that just seems to go on and on. The headline power isn't amazing but we were held back by a knackered non adjustable actuator. I'm really pleased with the result and would definately recommend Steve and FC Tuning for your SX Spec: Redtop SR20DET stock Z32 AFM Blitz FMIC Blitz Nurspec R full HKS GT2510 HKS Intake SARD 550 Injectors Nistune ECU
Steve rocks! :-) Hi all, Just returned from the 7th mapping session in Holland. I arrived there with my S14 and a lot of problems. After a long but good session with Steve and the guys from DP Engeneering the car is better than ever!! Faster, more agressive and running smoother... Steve, thanks for the good work. I will be there again next time again for a remap after installing my other upgrades. Keep up the great work! p.s. Say thanks to your collegue for the good BBQ !!!
Steve FC tuning Thanks! I will thank Steve FC tuning and Ray very much! My Nissan Primera had before Steve has mapped the car,284,5 and 335 NM,with 0,8 bar turboboost. Steve has mapped the car with Nistune now my car has 342,5PK and 422,1 NM with 297Pk on the wheels!!I have 480cc injectors from a S15 and a Garreth T28 RS with a 2,5 inch exhaust. At 0,9 bar turbobboost. Steve has taken a movie with his camera how the car runs on the street. I have A Pulsar GTI-R and next year he goos also to Steve for the mapping. Steve The car runs great!! Greetz Ronald
I was also at dp engineering in Holland last weekend and Steve absolutely gave me what I hoped for from my ca18det. It's been bored and sleeved to 2.0 litres with cams and forged pistons. This showed as the car made 282hp and 300nm torque from only 0.8 bar on a hks gt28rs! Only took about 2 hours using Nistune. Then unfortunatly (but honestly well expected) the stock clutch did'nt like the extra power(read: started slipping like hell) so steve just turned the boost down to what it's at now. Next up is a good six puck clutch, 700-1000cc injectors and fit my hks steel head-gasket I have lying around... Then I'll let him take it to about 1.2 bar and see what I get! Steve is a very knowledgable person with a great and friendly personality as a bonus. He is very down to earth, and has patience with every car, as long as it's been maintained and built properly. To say it in his own words: "Bring me a good car and I'll give you some good results!" Now that I found a great mapper, I know where to turn to in the future! See you in a bit Steve(and Ray). Ray is a very talented mechanic and has the same thorough approach in his work as Steve does! Nistune seems to be a very nice piece of soft- and hardware, with new capabilities getting put in all the time! Car had a stage 3 chip before but ran like utter crap...
Well folks my car survived the mapping session in one piece! Many thanks to Steve who managed to extract a nice 245bhp and 216lb ft of torque from my taxi even tho the actuator is not doing its job! We had a few issues and Steve wudn't let me off the rollers till everything was investigated. Spent about 5 hrs on the rollers and did 57 pulls and engine is still sweet as a nut! So thanks to Steve and Duncan at Hypertech. Once the teething issues are sorted the car will be back on the rollers for another dose of FC Tuning magic! Heres a video of Steve working his magic on the Primulsar! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0szeg1ACMY&feature=related]YouTube - kennys primera[/ame]
