As some of you may know I have been after a cheap rice burner for a while. Well one popped up in Exeter a couple weeks ago that looked solid and had potential beneath all the added extras. It's a GTS (RB20DE) so 2 litres and no turbo roblem: On the plus side it's done 75k (some of it in km) engine runs great, box is tight and no rot that I can find. You really have to look to find the potential  The best part about it was that it was cheap like the budgie! The night it got dropped off where it'll be staying while I carry out some work, I removed the pikey window tints, front and rear sun strips and the majority of the passenger side vinyls I got to work on it properly today with Dom (Lupo Tom) and I think we've made some pretty good progress for only a couple hours work. Took the shitty ass vinyls off And then proceeded to remove the wing... ...bonnet scoop.... neons.... yep I said it, neons! ...and the 3 (yes 3) extra sets of front lights seen in this picture Here's Dom fiddling around with the highest up set which had been attached to the horn with body filler  I was also given a GTR front bumper (thanks Tapp) and here is Dom trying to fit it.... Unfortunately it didn't fit Here's all the shit that came off today.... Here's how it looked when I left today This is the project I've been after for a while so I'm well chuffed. All plans are to be carried out by me, except for anything engine/mechanical as I really don't have a clue! Future plans are: Hicas Lock Out LSD RB25DET (2.5 turbo) Ghetto paint job in satin brown (should be doing it in my week off before Christmas) including welding up the holes from the scoop and the wing Rear bench stripped Harnesses Boost gauge Dodgy dildo gear knob Coilovers Bolt on arches Rota RB-X 17x9.5 et-19 (om nom nom) Got some goodies in the post today Pic shows it as blue but it is actually green Emailed the people I ordered my harnesses from and they said they take 7-10 days because I ordered green and they're made to order Got home to another parcel though......
As you can see in the previous pics the front indis looked like this Bit of thinners soon had the driver's side looking like this The passenger side one is cracked and pretty fucked, held together with the previous owner's favourite tool, body filler! Fitted the new gear knob Rear seats whipped out And by the time we'd finished messing about with getting the seatbelts out and deciding what rear trim to keep (none) and drilling the 4th mount for each harness in the right place, adjusted the driver's seat to the right position and altered harnesses accordingly, it had got dark so sorry for the next 2 pics being shit! Jason ran the power cable for the amp from the bay to the boot, will be installing that lot tomorrow
Got a better pic of the rear today Me and Dom cracked on with the head unit installation and.... well failed. Have checked everything we (Dom) can think of and can't get it working, from the state of the previous bodges I'd guess that the wiring in the car is to blame somewhere along the line :? We gave up in the end and when I left it was looking like this:  Something not going right was bound to happen sooner or later!
Fucking nice one si. What a terrible car, what an incredible save!! You no were iam if you get stuck fitting the det
bloody hell, that was awful!!!! Good save, however harnesses with standard seats???? not a good idea, chuck some bucket seat in there
good save there - saw this on ebay i think.. i think it had a ' o dear god look at this post' for it too.
Thanks guys, was worried I would get all kinds of abuse for it which is why I waited till I'd made some progress before starting a thread! I've ditched the wing already I'm afraid :-/ Thanks Kev, I'll let you know if I need any info. You're a legend
Luckily no! I waited till it was dark and my mate who's a mechanic drove it for me (trader's policy as it's not gonna be on the road for a while) He insisted we waited till it was dark though! lol Thanks bud
Ha, WTF that car used to live in my home village! Silverton, near Exeter, used to LOL daily at it! Glad its now owned by someone with TASTE!!
Nice to see one saved. I'd use the normal seat belts until you get some buckets though, harnesses like that could kill you in a crash with stock seats, they weren't designed with harnesses in mind and could potentially snap in half.
