Hi, I'm a beginner who started drifting with rent cars (only gtst33 and e36 318, 320, 325) and looking for a low budget car to drift. I live in Italy so the only low budget cars here are BMWs, or some MX5 but these are often in really bad condition if they're sold for a low price.. Now I was wondering: what's the best BMW chassis (E30/32/34/36/38/39/46/compacts/touring etc.) to drift? Don't consider the engine or the stock weight (I found that as far as i got 150-200hp they're more than enough to start with, and the car would be completely gutted from the unnecessary parts, so the weight isn't much a problem), just consider the stock chassis and geometry (wheelbase, track width, CG, load distribution etc.) and the availability/price of oem/aftermarket replacement parts just in case I have to change a broken part. Also, is it true that a longer wheelbase is best for drifting? It may be slower when changing directions, but does it prevent from spinning around? By looking on wikipedia I saw that for example the e46 is superior to the e36, but on some forums people say that it's worse to work on. Can anyone sum up all the truth about the differences between bmw models? Thanks a lot to everyone who'll answer!
