So I bought a 35mm film camera back in about 2012. I put a heap of photo's on my Facebook but never really thought to do anything other than share with my mates.
Decided to start sharing this stuff on Instagram and Facebook to kind of motivate me to do it more. Slowly posting up stuff from the last few years.

I know that a lot of these photos are over/under exposed and some are out of focus. Annoying but I've started getting more consistent.

If you rate this I'll be posting more up on the Instagram @northernkith and try to keep the facebook updated "Northern Kith"

Also if you ever see your car pictured drop me a message and I can get the 4x6 to you if I got a print when developing.

New roll developed. Mainly from DWYB at Santapod this Wednesday and a couple of my S13 before flying back to London. Still have some on the start of a new roll.

Been following your Instagram for a few weeks now and properly love the content you're uploading. Seeing stuff like this gets me motivated to use my OM10 more..

Thanks mate! Much appreciated to hear coming from an actual photographer. Glad the over/under exposed and out of focus pictures are still entertaining haha. Gutted I didn't have a zoom lens with me for Pod as I had a couple shots I wanted to get.

That's why I think I like it really dude. Diversity is what visually excites me haha. What camera and lenses do you use?

Hi mate, finally got my first roll of film developed! And out of 24 pictures, there's maybe six usable ones?.. But mainly I was wondering how you do your panning and in motion pictures? Had a go at Rockingham with a couple and they were just massive blurs haha. Must be something to do with having a automatic shutter speed or that I was trying to pan through a metal fence.. The last picture was my attempt.

EDIT: Only just realised how much shit my sensors got on it! :p

Great look to film, simply something about it.

Could try and focus on the backgrounds more to make the pics ageless, like number plates etc.

By the looks of it, and this is no dig Keeve, his shots have ran very quick shutters - notice the lack of motion in the front wheels on the "moving" shots. This widens the margin of error on panning shots and unless you have your own processing capabilities, makes sense with paying to have a roll of blurred crap if you get it wrong.

Yours looks like you've brought the shutter speed right down, correctly so for maintaining motion but maybe too much or you might have just not quite matched the panning speed of your target object.

Might be worth trying to run a DLSR or digital with a manual setting and get the shutter speed and F/ right, then practice your panning speed til you're happy and then bang out the 35mm :)

I usually shoot an Canon 650D DSLR but I've also just found my Dad's 650 35mm so I'm planning on getting out and using them together :)

Yeah I only shoot at 250 or 500. 1000 for skate/bmx stuff. I have no idea what I'm doing for the most part tbh haha. I just point at what i think will be a cool photo, adjust shutter speed for the light and then take the picture. Basic as fuck.
My filmographer mate always used to say you'll never get a roll you'll 100% be happy with with film, and my first developed shots i think i only had like one useable photo. You just learn what works and what doesn't the more you use it.

On another note I'll be updating this later today hopefully.

Ah you see with the OM10 I use, it has an automatic shutter speed. So I am limited to only changing the F-stops and focus. But from what I've been reading it is an 'aperture priority' camera. Meaning that I chose the aperture and it selects the correct shutter speed for the settings provided. Which will hopefully give me the exposure I need etc. I do run my D7200 constantly on manual at 125th and it doesn't seem to be a problem. Questionable focusing on a few, but sound other than that. Although, I think I've just answered my own question above regarding film haha.

I'll match the F-stops and try and get close to them and see how it goes from there. Good advice though man, cheers! Also looking forward to the update. :)
