Choosing the Perfect Steering Wheel

When it comes to choosing a new steering wheel for your car, there are a lot of things to consider. What material is best suited for your driving style? What design do you prefer? Are there any specific features you need? Choosing the perfect steering wheel can be tricky, but don't worry - we're here to help.

Firstly, you need to figure out what material is best suited for the type of driving you’ll be doing. If you're after a steering wheel for the daily driver, then you'll want leather or wood. Both of these materials are hard-wearing and much easier to keep clean when it comes to removing hand grime. If you're after a steering wheel for the track using a leather or suede grip is ideal. Suede gives a more tactile, motorsport feel, and like suede, leather is grippy and seen by many as the original go-to choice for tearing up race circuits. Admittedly, suede is harder to keep clean but wearing racing gloves while on the track will ensure the wheel stays cleaner for longer.

Secondly, you need to consider the wheel's size. Go too large and you’ll be struggling with legroom, go too small and the look and feel will be all off. Honestly, there is no right answer, it's all about finding what feels comfortable for you but always use your existing setup as a guide to finding your perfect aftermarket steering wheel.

Finally, you need to decide on the brand and design of the wheel. Again this is a big question with no right or wrong answer. Thankfully, we’re all different but it’s up to you to decide which brand best suits your personality and how each steering wheel design best complements your car’s interior.

Whatever steering wheel you choose, you’ll want to ensure it’s right for you. At Driftworks we have Nardi, Personal, Vertex and MOMO steering wheels, offering a huge array of colour and design options. If you need any guidance or just want to know the most popular choices, then our team of specialists are here to help you find your perfect wheel.

Which Steering Wheel Is Right For My Car?

There are a few things to consider when making your decision. If you're just looking for something to replace your old, worn-out steering wheel, then any basic design will do. However, if you're looking for something premium with more features, or that's better suited for track or road use, then you'll need to consider the options available.

Our steering wheel ranges cover pretty much every car available whether modern or classic, with wood steering wheels being very popular amongst classic car owners. These add a touch of elegance and sophistication to the interior, plus their tactility adds to the overall driving experience. Leather steering wheels are another popular choice, especially with high-performance car owners. They offer excellent durability and grip making them perfect for daily use and guaranteed to look stylish for years to come.
