its on the bloody road!!!!! so i have owned this rx7 since jan 14. it was rotten, then it got flooded n didnt run. i ran out of enthusiasm when i saw the extent of the rot. i tried to break it but no one bought anything bar the cruise control switch for £8 and the pace top mount intercooler. so i have had it knocking around for ever, proper thorn in the side scenario. nearly took it to the scrap yard numerous times but i just couldn't.... today i drove it, got it mot'd and its sat outside ready to go. mental... i never really even pictured driving it. its on the road and its pretty quick too. back when i got it next to my old black one (daily) {} {} some pics of it before i did the major work. {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} fitted a hydro {} {}
sorry state, sat unloved for a fair while... then i did all of the welding (with a mates help, i hate welding rusty cars up) forgot to take more pics lol got some series 4 lca's and extended the balljoint 20mm fitted my bc coilovers massive front arb engine sat on the floor for a few months for the hell of it. mint lightweight flywheel and pretty much brand new exedy padle clutch was already fitted to it when i got it along with a mental fuel set up, twin feeds and returns, custom rails, 1680cc secondary injectors.... steering knuckles got the chop treatment, had to extend the steering rods 20mm too and beef them up a bit. fair bit of lock achieved.
threw the engine back in and bought some new wings on as mine were rotten at the bottom. interior going together... - - - Updated - - - bought an intercooler core... chopped it up, made it fit and modified the inlet pipe to suit.
it drove. had put the weds rims on. thought it looked alright... - - - Updated - - - ....but i had these so i took tyres off these to get em painted. put tyres back on n fitted em. pow. hard as nails. bought a corbeau club sport seat for the passenger, pretty comfy. greddy e-manage ultimate piggy back ecu got chucked in last night along with an air filter and wideband gauge. i went and picked the car up at lunchtime to have it mot'd, much to everyones suprise it was not a total shite box and it passed, even went through the emissions which i was pretty worried about haha. tracked it up a bit as it drove like poo and put tax on. may well go for a drive in a minute... cos i can haha.
Any particular reason you didn't opt for an FMIC? And how comes the Weds came off in favour of the Starion rims? The Weds looked boss! Looks like an ace project though, looking forward to seeing the progression
yeah i prefer the starions personally, but the weds do look sweet too.. was gonna go fmic but after offering up cores n looking at pipework routing i decided against it. tmic was the easiest option fabrication wise and should be fine for the power im gonna be making.
