Gunna struggle with the 10J rear. I was going to get Grids in that size but was too much hassle for me to be bothered. I've read rear arches are a pain in the ass on E46's. Although the M3 is perfectly fine for 10J's
1. That's because Im driving round showing them my sledge hammer, hideous wheels. 2. Doesnt that tell you something? Si m3 service stories are for m3s, anything with a real M badge can cost extorinate money to repair at times. Normal run of the mill stuff (especially 3 series) arent so much of an issue usually. FBMWSH isnt as important on older cars as you might think. Most people would be happy with a good indy stamp. There are a few round Taunton way that I could reccomend.
Didn't Shane Lynch used to have a Touring that was converted into an M3? Engine, subrames, bodywork, everything? Anyone got any pics?
330CI AC Schnitzer. It was my mate Ben's car (you can't tell) Arctic Silver, Full Red Leather, very powerful Harman Kardon and i tiny bit more power than standard
Man i'd kill for the red leather and HK system. I should of done more research before just buying the first nice one I saw!
AMBERLIGHT PAINT FOR HEAD LAMPS [0010] AMBER LIGHT on eBay (end time 02-Sep-10 09:12:07 BST) ? It's good stuff, did my fogs with it:
You get a bit of rubbing with 18's and 19's as soon as You hit a small bump. If you fit some M3 springs it helps.
Ah there xenon headlights - came on 330d's .... yellow stuff applied them prob... the indicators i cant find tho,....
Set some kind of new standard for myself today, this one sold TWENTY MINUTES from me arriving to see it. Hopefully the next one that crops up will be the right one!
... ^^^ man unlucky ! anyone remember that e46 for sale on here a while ago with the e36 s50 (m3) conversion ... ??? white one - 4 door i think. been trying to find the thread here with no freakin joy ..can anyone find it or does anyone have any info on s50 into e46 conversion ??
It belonged to Dan from team church and iirc it was a major pita to get the wiring all married up as e36 and e46 use very different systems. I know nothing about electrics so cant expand anymore than that sorry.
What works in terms of wheel fitment on these then? Found a facelift 330d SE in black that I'm picking up this weekend with only 66k on it.
Standard offsets are around the et40 range. Luckily all 5/6/7/8 series BMWs tend to run a more aggressive et20 and inch or so wider respectively. You can pretty much go hunting for any of the 5 and up series wheels in the knowledge they will be good fitments. 17s tend to look small on e46s and only, imo, really work if they are worthy, fat and the car is dumped. 18s are about the best fit. Fronts you should be looking for 18x 8-9j et10-25ish and the rears 18x9-10j et-10-30ish. Those fitments will definitely require thinner tyres (215/35/18 / 225/40/18) and possibly a little arch massage. The e46 is known for being hard to roll the rear arch due to a double skin but is still do-able Im sure. As with anything ride height and camber has as much to do with fitment as the wheels and tyres themselves. You could run 10s all round with neg camber and stretch.
Mine still the best car ive owned, coilys need winding down alittle with a possible roll on the rear as it rubs two up.
What sizes are they? I'm thinking rude thoughts about some bronze Rota Grids actually! But they only do 10J +20 rear I think and this may be too aggressive for a non-M? Anyone selling a BMW Business CD unit too?
